Antibodies is the same thing that occurs when you receive a vaccine for antibodies viruses protection. Antibodies are proteins produced by your immune system in response to a specific infection. Antibodies are found in blood specimens called serum or plasma. Our office perform finger pricks or venous blood sticks to collect antibodies test. This test will help you know your antibody status. IgM antibodies is usually the first antibody produced by the immune system when a virus attacks. A positive IgM test indicates that you may have been infected and that your immune system has started responding to the virus. When IgM is detected you may still be infected. IgM can be detected within seven days of contact with COVID-19 virus and last up to six months after contact. IgG antibodies develop in most patients within 14 days days after symptoms or asymptomatic phase of COVID-19 begin. These antibodies indicate you had COVID-19 in the recent past and have developed antibodies that may protect you from future infections. It is unknown at this point how much protection antibodies might provide against reinfection specifically with COVID-19 virus.  Our antibodies test is designed to work in conjunction with CDC recommended FDA approved COVID-19 test.

Your COVID antibodies can have 4 different results:

IgM+/IgG+ Recent infection with COVID19

IgM+/IgG- Recent infection with COVID19

IgM-/IgG+ Previous infection with COVID19

IgM-/IgG- No infection or not enough detectable antibodies in the early infection
